BHS Swim & Dive Team Tryouts
Swim Tryouts: 2024-2025
Beginning November 11 – Start time 7:30 @ Freedom Center
- Monday, Nov. 11 – Girls 100 Free and 100 Butterfly
- Tuesday, Nov. 12– Boys 100 Free and 100 Butterfly
- Wednesday, Nov. 13 – Girls 100 Breaststroke and 100 Backstroke
- Thursday, Nov. 14 – Boys 100 Breaststroke and 100 Backstroke
Important – At tryouts we need several parents to volunteer to time.
Note: We try to accommodate year-round swimmers by giving them the option to compete in all four events in one evening. However, this needs to be approved by the coaches prior to tryouts.
Dive Team Tryouts – 2024-2025
Divers will be coached this year by Coach Angie Baker and Assistant Coach Helen Reading. Tryouts will be held from Tuesday, November 12– Monday, November 18. All divers trying out will be required to attend on Tuesday the 12th, however only returning divers with 6 or more dives and club divers that have a competition ready list will be required to dive on Tuesday. Everyone else will be observing. The remainder of the tryouts will be for new divers, club divers or returning divers with less than 6 dives.
The Dive Coach has requested that you complete the online form below. The form instructs that anyone interested in trying out for dive needs to get in touch with their school swim coach and complete all of the necessary steps required for school athletes. As a friendly reminder, anyone trying out for dive will need a blue card to hand in to me on deck. Divers will not be allowed on the board until a blue card has been provided to the coach.

General Tryout Information
Before try-outs, you will need to take your current VHSL Physical Form and your concussion training form to Mrs. Nelson (Athletic Trainer) after school and she will give you a yellow form to bring with you to try-outs. You will not be permitted to tryout for a team without completing both forms and turning them into Mrs. Nelson and providing the yellow form from Mrs. Nelson at tryouts. Also, it is highly recommended that you turn your forms in well in advance of tryouts.
Team Selection
- Should be announced between Nov 15-17, 2024.
- Anticipate swim team size of 24 – 26 swimmers per gender
- Anticipate dive team size of 4 divers per gender
It is highly recommended that you be in shape for tryouts. Only tryout times are counted for selection. No previous high school, summer league, or club times can be used. Coaches need to know about meet conflicts before try-outs.

After the selection of team members for the 2024-2025, you can complete the BHS Swim & Dive Online Registration Form.

IMPACT Training
Once rosters have been finalized, swimmers and divers will be required to attend additional baseline testing as part of the concussion protocol. That date has not yet been set, but swimmers and divers will need to make arrangements to attend this testing.
